IoT Guide to Heroku and Salesforce

Kelly Sharp
When Heroku became a part of the Salesforce ecosystem, it created a massive opportunity to develop solutions outside of Salesforce while still leveraging all of the aspects of Salesforce that businesses love. Applications built on Heroku offer an ideal solution to connecting IoT devices in the field with Salesforce to trigger actions, inform sales and marketing discussion, and enable deeper customer engagement.

Increase Sales Enablement with Salesforce IoT

Kelly Sharp
By this point, we have all heard about IoT. We know that we can use an app on our phone to turn on our lights before we get home or replenish our laundry detergent at the push of a button. While consumer products monopolize much of the IoT press, according to Intel, “most IoT smart devices aren’t in your home or phone – they are in factories, businesses, and healthcare.”

Finding the Heroku-Salesforce Integration That Supports Your Business Goals

Michael Rockford
Building enterprise-grade applications is an ambitious endeavor. For too long, enterprise solutions have been built independently of one another. Developing a solution, from the ground-up, requires a substantial amount of resources, both human and capital. It also makes it difficult to integrate with existing applications, data, and processes, which is crucial to long-term success and user adoption. These homegrown solutions are notoriously difficult to maintain, especially through staffing changes and upgrades to interdependent applications.

General Business Thoughts: Starting Without Perfection

Michael Rockford
As an entrepreneur, I have learned the importance of starting without perfection. I know (now) that I will never have it all figured out and that waiting for that moment to start or to pivot means that it will never happen. Instead, I advocate for dividing projects, whether it is launching a new business or a new project, into smaller pieces.

Financial Services Cloud Meets Modern Client Demands

Michael Rockford
Working successfully within the financial services industry is a balancing act of securing client information while providing simple, transparent access when needed. Wealth management, banking, and insurance clients are no longer comparing their financial services experiences to competitors in your industry. Salesforce Health Cloud: Secure Solutions for the Healthcare Industry

Michael Rockford
Salesforce Health Cloud brings secure, comprehensive patient care to an entire ecosystem. Truly comprehensive patient care is not just tracking the diagnoses and treatments performed at your facility or by your physicians. It is monitoring and reacting to the entire patient care ecosystem; including primary care doctors, specialists, pharmacists, rehabilitation and therapy providers, and caseworkers. Michael Rockford
Heroku Salesforce applications extend the flexibility and the power of the world’s most powerful CRM. Sales Enablement with IoT 3.0

Michael Rockford
The IoT revolution has connected more than six billion things to the internet. These things do everything from monitoring our health to ordering laundry soap. Increasing Sales Enablement Through Commerce Cloud

Micahel Rockford
Sales enablement is getting your customers the information they need to make a buying decision. It is also putting the product they want at their fingertips at the precise moment they are ready to make a purchase. In the world of B2C commerce, getting this balance right is at the core of your business. Your customer is not sure what they want to buy until the moment hits – and that moment will not “hit” without your help.

Applying Analytics Cloud to Grow Your Business

Michael Rockford
In many cases, analytics tools are applied to specific segments of data within an organization. When data and analyses are siloed, it can be difficult to uncover the root causes of issues within the business.

Salesforce DX Brings Modern Development to Salesforce Projects

Justin Ludlow
On June 28, Salesforce rolled out its beta version of Salesforce DX; a new Salesforce developer experience that mirrors traditional, source-driven development lifecycles. Salesforce DX enables development work to be done on separate branches and then merged into a master branch as the project progresses. Previous development efforts in Salesforce Sandboxes followed a different path. All development work was completed in the Sandbox and then, ideally, deployed to a separate “integration Sandbox.” The process could get a little sticky and made it difficult to share development work for peer reviews and testing.

Is Your Data Ready for Development?

Michael Rockford
Perhaps one of the greatest “sleeper” cost drivers in a development project is bad data. Applications built on an existing infrastructure can be sabotaged by poor data quality. In a previous post, I mentioned our belief in maintaining an “always a beginner” mentality. This does not mean that we forget all of our experiences or do not bring them to bear in our new projects. Why Heroku Consulting?

Michael Rockford
Two years ago, I looked at Heroku and thought that it was not mature enough to meet business needs. Force.com can be limiting but it was also built with enterprise in-mind; so some of the challenges associated with large-scale applications are handled well on the platform. Then Heroku Connect and Heroku Enterprise changed all of that by creating a way to extend the power of Salesforce to the rest of the business.
